as inhabitants of the modern world, we are inundated by varied and incongruous stimuli. as observers we are constantly consuming, defining, organizing, and storing what we experience. amidst all the processing, we retain certain things, consciously and subconsciously. these in turn become a part of us, forming the basis for choices and influencing everything from the simple to the complex. my work explores the information i receive from daily observations as well as recollections of the past. as i contemplate each, i am driven to transmit my findings in the form of jewelry. this body of work was made in 2003 for an exhibition at fancy in seattle, wa. all images by doug yaple |
