Bio
Amy Tavern is an artist from the United States. Her work is based on memory and, although autobiographical, refers to shared experience and universal themes. Amy has exhibited nationally and internationally with solo shows in the U.S., Belgium, Sweden, and Iceland. She has taught and lectured across the U.S. and in Europe and her work as a metalsmith has been included in numerous publications, most notably, the cover of Metalsmith Magazine. Through the creation of objects and spaces, Amy strives to make the fleeting more permanent, preserving her memories and connecting with her audience.

Currently, Amy is attending California College of the Arts where she is pursuing an MFA in sculpture, installation, and interdisciplinary art. She will graduate this coming May, 2017.

Statement
I am devoted to observing the world that surrounds me and questioning the human condition through the lens of my own life experience. Through a variety of traditional and exploratory multi-media techniques, I create drawings, objects, photographs and video, and installations that hint at memory, time, loss, and the layered sense of self I believe we all carry. I intuitively select materials and forms to represent the intangible and to create abstract narratives. Using my own memory of people, places, and objects, I seek to communicate the human experience, convey emotion, and connect with others.
